Steve Ridgeway, #51, returns a turnover for Pacific Lutheran University in a game. Steve Ridgway earned numerous honors while patrolling the defense from 1973-76 as a linebacker for Coach Frosty Westering's Lutes. Ridgeway, who was called a “fierce competitor” by his coach Frosty Westering, was the first PLU football player to earn NAIA District I all-star honors four straight years. Ridgeway also earned NAIA All-American honors three times as a linebacker. In 1975 and 1976, he was honorable mention All-American. In 1977 as a senior, he was second-team All-American. He finished his career with the Lutes with 592 tackles, three interceptions, 21 pass break ups, five fumble recoveries and four touchdowns. Ridgeway was named to the PLU Athletic Hall of Fame and the Tacoma Pierce County Athletic Hall of Fame.Lexicon
