Ray Barnes, wearing number 10, stands in a team picture with the 1950-51 University of Washington. Darrold Talley (number 7) and Hugh McIlhenny (number 32) are also in the picture. Barnes, who graduated from Puyallup High School in 1949, returned to his high school alma mater to coach wrestling from 1956 to 1970 and had an impressive 115-36-4 record in dual matches. He then became the athletic director at Puyallup High School. He was inducted into the state's wrestling coaches hall of fame in 1986 and then the state's Athletic Director's Hall of Fame in 1991. After an All-American career at the UW as a running back, McIlhenny, who was nicknamed “The King,” became a first-round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 1952 NFL draft.
