Description

A 1956 championship trophy for the Stanley Shoeman baseball team. The Stanley Shoeman became the first baseball team from the West Coast to win a national baseball championship when they captured the 1956 American Amateur Baseball Congress World Series in Battle Creek, Michigan, by beating East Chicago, Indiana, 10-0, in the title game. The Shoeman finished with a 50-11 record by winning their final 13 games, capturing state and regional championships en route to the national title. They won the titles in three different states, covering 3,688 miles on their journey. Mike Dillon, Monte Geiger and Dale Bloom were key pitchers for Stanley Shoeman. Shoemen starters in the field were catcher Jack Johnson, first baseman Dick Schlosstein, second baseman Jim Harney, shortstop George Grant, third baseman Jim Gallwas and outfielder Bob Maguinez, Earl Hyder and Ron Storaasli.
