Description

This wooden plaque was presented to Frank Ruffo in 1969 for his induction into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame. Ruffo played for Shaffer Box. Co. in the Industrial League for 12 years with Cammarano Bros in the City League. Ruffo also played for Shelton in the Timber League, the Johnson Paint team of 1937 that finished fifth at the nationals in Wichita, Kansas, and he also spent one season in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) with the Hollywood Stars, Boston’s Farm team. Ruffo ended his playing career on the softball diamond for one season. One of Ruffo’s career highlights include hitting a home run off Grover Cleveland Alexander in a City League exhibition game and completing an unassisted triple play.
