A uniform worn by Jack Johnson with LJ (for line judge) and 54 on the front.
Johnson played baseball, basketball and football at Pacific Lutheran College and signed a baseball contract with the Seattle Rainiers.
Johnson is believed to be the first National Football League (NFL) official to come from the Tacoma area. He served as a NFL line judge from 1976-91 and also served as athletic director at Green River Community College in Auburn.
A line judge’s responsibilities include assisting the head linesman at the line of scrimmage, looking for possible offsides, encroachment and other fouls before the snap. During the play, the line judge is responsible for activity near his sideline, including whether a player is out of bounds. He is also responsible for counting offensive players prior to the snap.
