Description

A gold medal from the World University Games in Torino, Italy, was won by Kaye Hall-Greff in 1970. Hall-Greff was a senior at Wilson High School in Tacoma swimming for renown coach Dick Hannula when she won a gold medal and set a world record in the 100-meter backstroke and was part of the 400 medley relay team in 1968 Olympic Games. Hall-Greff also earned a bronze in the 200-meter backstory. At the Pan-American Games leading up to the Olympics, she won a silver medal in 1967 and set three national indoor and four American swimming records. Hall-Greff went on to become a collegiate All-American, won three gold medals representing the University of Puget Sound at the World University Student Games in Torino, Italy, in 1970. She is a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the Washington State Sports HOF and the Tacoma Pierce-County Sports HOF. She was named the Washington State Athlete of the Year in 1968.
