Description

Vicki Panzeri of Seattle became one of the nation's top female racquetball players in the 1980s. Her top national ranking was No. 2 in 1985 behind perennial champion Lynn Adams. One of her biggest career victories came over another racquetball legend, Heather McKay, in the semifinals of the 1985 national championship tournament in Costa Mesa, CA. McKay had announced her retirement and was hoping for one more title before Panzeri -- ranked No. 3 at the time behind Adams and McKay -- pulled off the 3-2 upset. Adams then won title match, 3-0. Panzeri, shown in this 1985 portrait, was in the top-10 rankings from 1981-82 through 1987-88.
