Description

Vicki Panzeri of Seattle stretches to return a shot in this photo from the mid-1970s, early in her racquetball career. Panzeri went on to became one of the nation's top female racquetball players in the 1980s. Her best national ranking was No. 2 in the 1984-85 season behind perennial champion Lynn Adams. One of Panzeri's biggest career victories came over another racquetball legend, Heather McKay, in the semifinals of the 1985 national championship tournament in Costa Mesa, CA. McKay had announced her retirement and was hoping for one more title before Panzeri -- ranked No. 3 at the time behind Adams and McKay -- pulled off the 3-2 upset. Adams then won title match, 3-0. Panzeri was in the top-10 national rankings from 1981-82 through 1987-88.
