An assistant coach, unidentified, with the Tacoma Sabercats talks to players on the bench during a game in the 1999-2000 season at the Tacoma Dome. The Sabercats were a professional minor league hockey team that began playing in the 1997-88 West Coast Hockey League season and had a successful five-year run. Tacoma won the regular-season Northern Division title and reached the league finals in its first season. The Sabercats lost to the defending champion San Diego Gulls in the league’s first Taylor Cup. The following season, the Sabercats returned to the playoffs after winning the Northern Division title again and this time defeated the Gulls in the Cup finals. It would be the only league championship for the franchise, which folded after the 2001-02 season. The Sabercats made the playoffs all five seasons, winning three division championships.Made/Created
