The Tacoma Giants baseball team autographed this baseball in 1964. It was their fifth season in Tacoma. In 1960, the San Francisco Giants moved their Triple-A team from Phoenix to Tacoma. And that year the newly formed Tacoma Giants played in the newly built Cheney Stadium, which was named after Ben Cheney, a local businessman and big supporter of local sports. In 1964, the Giants finished with a 73-82 record and played fifth in Pacific Coast League. Then after the 1965 season, the San Francisco Giants owner Horace Stoneham moved their Triple-A affiliate from Tacoma back to Phoenix for the 1966 season. But Tacoma found a substitute team and the Chicago Cubs moved their Triple-A team to Tacoma. They were the Tacoma Cubs from 1966 to 1971 and then they became the Tacoma Twins from 1973 to 1977.Lexicon
