The Silver Skis races held on Mount Rainier in the 1930s and ‘40s are some of the most storied ski races held in the Northwest. In 1942, this silver-plated trophy went to the women’s champion: Stadium High graduate Shirley McDonald representing the Sun Valley Ski Club. It was her second time winning the race in as many years. The 1942 race was postponed one day because of icy conditions.
