Description

Here is a red, white and blue commemorative pin of the Tacoma Tugs. There's a red “T” and a blue and white tug boat at the base. In 1979, Tacoma's Triple-A minor league baseball team was called the Tugs. After the team's affiliation changed from the New York Yankees in 1978 to the Cleveland Indians in 1979, the Tacoma's team name was changed after a local contest came up with “Tugs.” The name was based on the rich history Tacoma has with tugboats. After one season as the Tugs, the team changed their nickname to the Tigers in 1980.
