Description

Players from the 1967 Tacoma Cubs baseball team autographed this baseball in blue and black ink. From 1966 to 1971, they were the Tacoma Cubs. The Chicago Cubs used the Tacoma team as their Triple-A affiliate for six seasons. With a solid pitching staff that had a combined 3.01 ERA for the season, the Tacoma Cubs won the Pacific Coast League championship in 1969. The first team to play at the new Cheney Stadium in 1960 was the Tacoma Giants. They were the Tacoma Giants until 1965 and then became the Tacoma Cubs in 1966. When the Chicago Cubs pulled their Triple-A team from Tacoma in 1971, Stan Naccarato and Clay Huntington recruited local businessmen for financial help and secured an affiliation with the Minnesota Twins. They were the Tacoma Twins from 1972 to 1977.
