Description

Rosy Ryan was general manager of the Tacoma Tigers Baseball Club. Ryan, played from 1919 to 1933, and was a player, coach, manager and executive for the Tigers. His service to the club was recognized in a wooden plaque. Ryan went on to pitch for the eventual world champion Giants in their 3-2 Game 1 won over the New York Yankees in the 1922 World Series. He duplicated the feat for the Giants the following season in the 1923 World Series, another Game 1 win over the Yankees. The Tigers were the first team in the Pacific Coast League from the area and joined the league in 1904 having moved from Sacramento after the 1903 season. The Tigers won the PCL pennant in 1904 and eventually became the Tacoma Rainiers and became the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Photo donated by Bob Ryan.
