This is a prized Tacoma Giants bobble head figure from the 1960s. They were the Tacoma Giants from 1960 to 1965. On April 16, 1960, the Tacoma Giants won their first game in the newly built Cheney Stadium when they defeated Portland 11-0. Future Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal pitched the shutout to pick up the Giants' first victory and their first shutout. And better things were ahead the next year as the Tacoma Giants won the Pacific Coast League championship in 1961 with an impressive 97-57 record. Gaylord Perry, who went on to play 21 years in the major leagues, pitched for the Tacoma Rainiers and played a key role in helping them to a 97-57 record and a PCL championship in 1961. When the San Francisco Giants moved their Triple-A affilite from Tacoma to Phoenix after the 1965 season, the Chicago Cubs moved their minor league team to Tacoma. And they were the Tacoma Cubs from 1966 to 1971.Lexicon
