Description

This white coffee mug has a Tacoma Cubs bear logo printed in red and blue on one side and Tacoma Centennial 1869-1969 printed on the other. For six seasons from 1966 to 1971, Tacoma's Triple-A minor league baseball team were called the Tacoma Cubs and affiliated with the Chicago Cubs. Whitey Lockman managed the team for the first four years. Under Lockman, the Tacoma Cubs won the 1969 Pacific Coast League championship. Lockman was Tacoma's winningest coach until Dave Myers broke his mark in 2000. The Cubs left Tacoma after the 1971 season and they then became the Tacoma Twins in 1972 and were affiliated with the Minnesota Twins. Tacoma became a city in 1869, marking it's 100th year in 1969.
