A granite curling stone, shown in this photo, is main implement used in the sport of curling. The stone is pushed down a sheet of ice toward the end with the intention of the stone stopping in the center of a bulls-eye painted into the ice. Curling was first introduced on the West Coast at the Lakewood Ice Arena. The curling club was one of many popular sports played at the rink including hockey and figure skating. The ice arena was the entertainment hub from its opening in 1938 until 1982 when part of the building collapsed and the rest was demolished. Belonged to Stephen C. BrightmanLexicon
