The Montamara Festo Auto Races, shown in a blue-felt pennant, were held in Tacoma July 2-4, 1914. The festival was an annual carnival that included street shows, fireworks, concerts, a historical pageant and the auto races. The races were held on the Tacoma Speedway, one of the fastest in the country, and was a distance of 100 miles that included cash prizes. Earl Cooper won the 1913 Montamara Festo races in his Stutz and the 200-mile Golden Potlatch race in Tacoma in 2:49.32 with an average speed of 71 mph. Donated by Wayne Herstad.
