Skating fans, including Ray Campbell (third from left) and John Johnson (fourth from left) admire a back drop for an ice skating show, circa 1950. The Ice Follies were the precursor to the Ice Capades which featured elaborate production numbers and costumes and later include several Olympians and world champion skaters. By 1955 the show had eight performances and 175 skaters. The rink also became the entertainment hub for Tacoma area residents since its opening in 1938 and continued until 1982 when part of the building collapsed and the rest was demolished.
