Description

Rawlings Official Baseball for the Pacific Coast League signed in blue ink by members of the 2003 Tacoma Rainiers. The 2003 squad – the AAA affiliate for the Seattle Mariners – finished the year with a 66-78 record under the leadership of manager Dan Rohn. Forty-year-old catcher Pat Borders led the team with a .314 batting average and .536 slugging percentage, while 21-year-old top outfield prospect Chris Snelling appeared in 18 games. On the pitching mound, 22-year-old Craig Anderson anchored the rotation with team bests in wins (13), starts (27), innings pitched (177), complete games (4), and earned run average (3.56). A pair of future All-Star relievers also served as key contributors: J.J. Putz shifted to the bullpen and saved 11 games, while Rafael Soriano compiled a 3.19 ERA in 62 innings over 10 starts.
