Description

The Pierce County Bengals won this wooden plaque when they won the 1977 NIFL west coast championship. Ed Bemis was the team's general manager and his name is etched on the border of the plaque. The Bengals were started by Bemis in 1973 and he served as the team's general manager from 1973 to 1980. Ron Baines has also played an important role with the team over the years. As a player, he was the NIFL MVP in 1976 and continues to be involved as a coach and promoter. The team's goal is to give athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents and earn an opportunity to play football in college or, even higher, professionally in the NFL or CFL.
