Description

A pair of two-pound wooden barbells made by Ruggles Larson’s coach. Larson, a Tacoma native, was a runner who talked his four daughters into training for the inaugural Sound to Narrows race by bribing them with new running shoes. While his daughters weren’t too keen on running, Larson found his passion. Larson ran 28 marathons and qualified for the 1986 Boston Marathon. Previously to running, Larson attended Washington State University where he boxed for a year before joining the Marines. After serving for three years he moved back to Washington and attended the University of Puget Sound before transferring to Western Washington University where he kept boxing. During his 12 years in the ring, Larson won 99 fights, 93 as an amateur and six as a professional.
