Greco, a Tacoma native and 1943 graduate of Stadium High School, served in the Navy during World War II then played in the Western International League with the Tigers from 1946-50, hitting 90 home runs in that span (his best season in Tacoma was 1950 when Greco hit .360 with 36 home runs for the affiliate of the Cleveland Indians).
Greco hit 333 home runs in the minors but never made it to the major leagues. He earned the nickname the "Babe Ruth of the bush leagues."Lexicon
