Description

Fourteen members of the Medved family pose for a 1994 family photograph. The Medveds were honored with First Family of Sports Award at the 2012 Tacoma Athletic Commission banquet. Pictured in the front row are patriarch Bob and matriarch Shirley Medved. Their 12 children (from left), second row: Tom, Jerry, Judy, Susie, Karen, Ron, John; third row: Tim and Kevin; back row: Jim, Mike and Pat. Ron Medved earned 10 varsity letters for Bellarmine Prep before playing football at the University of Washington, scoring on an 88-yard run against Stanford in 1963. Ron was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1966 and played for the Eagles through the 1980 season. Judy Medved Goggin participated in basketball and track, graduating from St. Leo's in 1963. John Medved was a golfer at Bellarmine Prep. Susie Medved Rogers played basketball while at St. Leo's and later participated in swimming, rowing, running and skiing. Michael Medved was inducted into the Bellarmine Booster Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 as team manager along with the basketball teams of 1966-67 and 1967-69. Pat Medved was am All-City selection in football and basketball and an accomplished triple jumper. He was inducted into the Bellarmine Booster Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. Tom Medved was a member of Bellarmine's Tacoma City League football championship teams as a sophomore and junior, and also played basketball for Bellarmine. Tim Medved played football and basketball at Bellarmine and made his mark outdoors, climbing Mount Rainier in 1989 and running the Capitol City Marathon in 1998. Karen Medved played soccer for Santa Clara University, earning team MVP honors 1981 and was captain for the Broncos from 1982-85. Kevin Medved earned three letters in football, two in basketball and two in baseball for Bellarmine, and was a first-team all-Narrows League selection in football his junior and senior seasons. He tied the Narrows League scoring record for a single game with 22 points (three touchdowns, two 2-point conversions) against Lincoln.
