Description

Here is a black-and-white photo of a cabin taken in 1949 along Deep Creek near Mount Rainier. During snowy winters over the years, places like this were a popular destination for cross-country skiers and snowshoe hikers. Back in 1938, a rope tow for skiers was installed at Paradise, making it a popular place for skiers during the winter. Deep Creek is along Chinook Pass and is an 11-mile hiking trail that starts at 2,582 feet and ends at 5,210 feet. It's an elevation gain of 3,750 feet.
