Description

A blue seat from Cheney Stadium is one of the remaining original memorabilia from the stadium located in Tacoma. The stadium was built in 1960 in the heart of central Tacoma and was the brainchild of Ben Cheney and Clay Huntington. The Tacoma Giants played their first game on April 16, 1960. After five decades the stadium began to show its age and a major renovation was approved in 2010 and finished in 2011. In 2018 the stadium became more than just a baseball venue. It now hosts Seattle Sounders FC’s USL soccer club, S2 as well as the Reign FC of the National Women’s Soccer League. Photo donated by the Tacoma Rainiers.
