Description

A copper and bronze pitcher with an inscription for the “Perpetual Low Net Trophy Tacoma Left-handed Golfers Club Donated By Chas Kelton 1936” to Bob Allard is an artifact donated by Marc Blau. Allard, of Portland, Oregon, played collegiate golf at Oregon State University, winning the then-Pac-8 Northern Division and conference championships in 1969 and is still listed on the Beavers All-time players list. Allard had such an impact on Oregon golf, the Oregon Junior Golf Association holds the Bob Allard Memorial Golf Tournament each July in Portland. The tournament was renamed from the Portland City Golf Championships in honor of Allard who was the Rock Creek golf professional in 1997. Allard was inducted into the Oregon State University Sports Hall of fame in 1991 and was the 1972 U.S. Public Links Championship.
