The Tigers returned to the PCL, playing at Cheney Stadium from 1980-94. The Tigers were the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's from 1981-94, making the postseason five times.
Among notable Tigers players were shortstop Walt Weiss, outfielder Jose Canseco and infielder Mark McGwire, who all went on to win the American League rookie of the year with the A's.
