Description

The baseball tournament from the 1990 Goodwill Games was held in Tacoma's Cheney Stadium. This autographed baseball was signed by the umpires and administrators who worked that baseball tournament. The Cuban national team easily won the baseball championship held in Cheney Stadium. They clobbered the United States team 16-2 in the semifinals. Cuba placed first in baseball, Japan took second the United States took third. The U.S. took a gold medal in baseball at the 1990 Summer Olympics. There were several players who played baseball in the 1990 Goodwill Games who went on and played in the major leagues. From Canada's team there was Rob Butler and from Japan's team there was Shigetoshi Hasegawa and Shingo Takatsu. The U.S. team had several future major leaguers, most notably Aaron Sele and Paul Byrd.
