Description

Angie Eichholtz was a pioneer in women’s coaching having grown up pre-Title IX. Eichholtz’s interest was varied, from track and field to synchronized swimming, field hockey and volleyball. She coached swimming, volleyball, track and field and basketball at a variety of schools in the Tacoma area and was the women’s swimming coach at Pacific Lutheran University. She was a contributing member of the organizing committee for the Washington High School Star Track, the state track and field championships. Eichholtz also served as the first female member of the Tacoma Athletic Commission in 1986 and its first president in 2009. Eichholtz also helped organize the Goodwill Games in 1990.
