Description

In 1945, John Heinrick became the second president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission. Heinrick took over for Dan Dyckman Sr. Heinrick is one of the most accomplished coaches in Tacoma history. He coached Stadium High’s dominant baseball teams, 1936-1944. He also coached football at Stadium and basketball at the University of Puget Sound. He was the manager of the 1937 Johnson Paint baseball team, the first Tacoma team to travel beyond the West Coast. The team, which included future major leaguer Fred Hutchinson, participated in the National Baseball Congress tournament in Kansas.
