Description

Dillard “Dill” Howell served as president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission in 1953, succeeding Jim Peterson. Howell, the TAC’s 10th president, was a salesman at Kimball’s Sporting Goods, 1922-36, before starting Howell Sporting Goods. He was a founding member of the TAC. The Tacoma-Pierce County Old-Timers Baseball-Softball Association presents the annual Dill Howell Award to distinguished supporters of local baseball. The University of Puget Sound’s annual most improved athlete award is also named after Howell.
