Description

Ples Irwin was Tacoma Athletic Commission president in 1954, taking over for Dillard “Dill” Howell. The local businessman owned a car dealership and sponsored one of Tacoma’s most successful fastpitch teams in the 1940s and ‘50s. He was involved in presenting the Tacoma Golden Gloves amateur boxing competition. Irwin was the TAC’s 11th president.
