Description

The winners of the Daffodil Cup ski race at Paradise on Mount Rainier had their names engraved on this silver bowl, 1948-66. The race was part of the Daffodil Festival, which included parades and a yacht race. The trophy was donated by the Totem Skiers, a snow and water ski club. The club was started by Joe LaPorte, an accomplished ski instructor and avid waterskier. The club, which eventually narrowed its focus to waterskiing, was the Northwest’s first water ski club.
