Description

Famous broadcaster Jerry Geehan wore these cufflinks and small tie pin-gold microphone set. In 1937, Geehan became the first radio play-by-play announcer of the Tacoma Tigers. Geehan, who graduated from Lincoln High School in 1930, in considered to be the dean of radio sports broadcasting in the Tacoma area. Geehan was the president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission in 1947. Geehan became the general manager of Channel 13 TV in 1952 and was the general manager of KTAC Radio from 1952 to 1969. He also served as the chairman of the board of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters. Many of Tacoma's great sportscasters got their start under Geehan, including Clay Huntington, Rod Belcher, Dough McArthur, Bob Robertson, Don Hill, Art Popham and Bill O'Meara.
