Description

Craig Mukai wore this Cheney Studs Connie Mack baseball cap while he played for them in 1966. He was teammates with Denny Brand, Dave Voss, Rich Mayo, Ed Brewster, and Allan Berg. That same year the Cheney Studs team, another team which has been a mix of college and ex-pro players over the years, was the national runner up, placing second. Ron Cey, who went on to play 17 years in the major leagues, mostly for the Los Angeles Dodgers, played third base for that national runner-up Cheney Studs team. The Cheney Studs were started in 1954 by Ben Cheney of Tacoma and in their 60-plus years of existence have been one of the most successful amateur baseball teams in the country. More than 100 former and active professional baseball players have played for the Cheney Studs.
