Description

A box of lawn bowling balls, from Slazengers Lawn Bowl from 1920 was donated by Van Armstrong. The box includes instructions on the sport of lawn bowling. The popular sport of lawn bowling began during the Roman era and is still very popular in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand. In the United States the sport is still played in Arizona, California, Florida, New York and New England. The Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club was started by Scottish immigrant Alexander ’Sandy’ Drummond in 1929 but ended in 2014. The club was reestablished in 2017 and continues to preserve the club’s 88-year history.
