Jim Rondeau of Tacoma, right, referees the heavyweight championship fight between Ken Norton, left, and George Foreman on March 26, 1974 in Caracas, Venezuela. Norton and Foreman fought for the WBA, WBC and The Ring heavyweight title in a fight known as "The Caracas Caper." Rondeau stopped the fight at the two minute mark of the second round after Foreman (40-0) knocked down Norton (30-3) three times. Rondeau, who was born in Bremerton, served one term as director of the state Department of Labor and Industries and spent 16 years on the Washington State Boxing Commission.
