Arnold Snell co-owned the first weightlifting gym in Tacoma, Cascade Health Club in 1948 with Bryce Lilly. Snell and Lilly would give lifting exhibitions for schools in Tacoma and civic groups with Snell one-arm pressing a 220-pound man overhead to arms length. Lilly said Snell was one of the most powerful men in the world for his size (175 pounds). Snell was known for performing 50 full squats with 300 pounds.
