Description

In this black-and-white photo, Hal Brotman wore a dark sports jacket with a TAC patch that has his name on it. As a long-time supporter of the Tacoma Athletic Commission, Brotman was the TAC president in 1970 and 1971. Brotman, who was born and raised in Tacoma, was a co-founder in 1983 of Costco, a Issaquah-based bulk retail chain that grew into a global giant and currently has 736 warehouses around the world. Brotman was also a longtime supporter of sports in Tacoma and back in the 1950s he began encouraging the construction of a sports center in Tacoma. When the mini-dome was built in Tacoma, the Tacoma Athletic Commission held a Morley Brotman night.
