Description

Bud Barnes, who is wearing a dark sports coat and stripped tie in this black-and-white photo, was a longtime supporter of the Tacoma Athletic Commission and also served as their director. Barnes supported the TAC's commitment to youth sports. TAC, which is dedicated to youth and sports, began in 1945 and has raised and donated over $6 million to youth sports in Pierce County. Each year, the TAC presents athlete of the year awards for each sport and each high school in the county. The TAC also gives awards at the Golden Gloves boxing championships, which started in 1952 and is now the second oldest boxing tournament in the United States. Each year, TAC also supports the TAC Celebrity Golf classic.
