The Old-Timers Softball-Baseball Association was conceived as a way to recognize the sports and their participants from the area. Besides being active in TAC and for years a baseball coach in the rec leagues, Smitty was the organizer of the sold-out Elks Night at Cheney Stadium during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. He was a season ticket holder from day one of AAA baseball in Tacoma.
