Milt Woodard (left), a Stadium High School graduate who ran track and played football there, stands with astronaut Wally Schirra. Woodard had a distinguished career as a sportswriter for the Tacoma News Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, where he was a beat writer for the Chicago White Sox. In 1966, Woodward was appointed as president of the American Football League and he oversaw the merge of the NFL and the AFL. After graduating from Stadium, Woodard attended the College of Puget Sound and played baseball and went on to a great career as a sportswriter and then as the commissioner of the AFL.Relationships
