Description

Milt Woodward was a graduate of Tacoma's Stadium High School who became president of the American Football League before it's merger with the NFL. He was initially a sports writer and then organizer and promoter of many different sports events and two minor league baseball teams. He was president of the Western Golf Association for 10 years, headquartered in Chicago. This picture, with Woodward (on the left) appears to be from his time in Chicago in the 1940s. It includes Chicago White Sox players Luke Appling and Johnny Rigney (son-in-law of owner Comisky). Also pictured are Charles Comiskey (owner's son) and Milt Hopwood, a Chicago Daily News reporter, and G. Trapp (seated).
