Young boys smile in this black and white photograph of the Jason Lee Junior High baseball team. Players include (handwritten on back of photo), Ray Kelly, Sam Cusato, Brad Dayton, Red Kenyen, Orville Pound, Edward Lanahan, Charles McMillian, Earl Balion and John Carlin. They were coached by Milt Woodard. Woodard himself was a graduate of Stadium High School who attended the College of Puget Sound before graduating form the University of Minnesota. Woodard became a major financial donor to UPS and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1993. Woodard went on to become the commissioner of the American Football League from 1960-66 and AFL president from 1966-70. He was president when the New York Jets, led by brash quarterback Joe Namath, upset the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. Along with NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, Woodard helped shape the first Super Bowl and AFL-NFL regular season schedules. Photo donated by Milt Woodard.
