Description

Milt Woodard (back row, right) holds a banner in a team photograph with eight teammates on the Franklin grammar school baseball team. Woodard, a Stadium High School graduate, went on to play baseball for the College of Puget Sound before embarking on a career as a sportswriter with the Tacoma News Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, where he was beat writer for the Chicago White Sox. Woodard also wrote a book in 1951, "So You Want to Run a Ball Club?" and authored the track and field section of the 1945 Encyclopedia Britannica. Woodard served as president of the Western Golf Association and the American Football League.
