Lincoln High School graduate Doug Sisk is shown on a color postcard during his stint in 1988 as a pitcher with the Baltimore Orioles. Sisk pitched for the New York Mets (1982087), Orioles (188) and Atlanta Braves (1990-91). He compiled a 22-20 record with a 3.27 ERA with 195 strikeouts and 33 saves in 332 games in the major leagues. His best season was 1984 when he had 15 saves (ninth best in the National League) with a 2.09 ERA for the Mets. Sisk pitched in Game 2 in the 1986 World Series against the Boston Red Sox, pitching two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit. Sisk was the final Mets’ pitcher in the 9-3 loss to the Red Sox at Shea Stadium, striking out one and intentionally walking another. The Mets went on to win the World Series in seven games. Sisk pitched Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, a 3-1 loss to the Houston Astros at Shea Stadium. Sisk pitched the top of the ninth inning, allowing a hit and walking one but did not allow a run. Sisk also pitched for Green River Community College and Washington State University before signing as a free agent with the Mets in 1980.
