Description

Two skiers cruise across the Paradise Glacier toward the Tatoosh mountains. A short hike from Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park gave visitors an array of skiing opportunities. For more than a century Rainier has lured adventurous skiers. The Paradise Glacier has receded significantly since this picture was taken, but the Paradise area can usually be counted on to receive more snow than most of Washington’s ski resorts. The National Park Service calls Paradise “one of the snowiest places on Earth where snowfall is measured regularly,” but most visit in the summertime when trails and it’s wildflower meadows are mostly snowfree.
