Known as the Power Line Trail, the east side of Alta Vista (a hill just above Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park) was a popular ski run at Paradise. Seen here in 1936, the run (serviced by a rope tow) was short but had a stunning view in every direction. The National Park Service shut down the rope tows to preserve the terrain and rebuffed efforts to build a ski resort on the site. However, skiers still hike Alta Vista and other Paradise slopes to experience these scenic runs.Made/Created
