Stan Olsen catches some air on the lengthy skis that were the norm in the 1950s. Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park was a popular destination for skiers like Olsen through the ‘50s before the temporary rope tow lifts were removed to protect the natural setting. Crystal Mountain opened just outside the park in 1962 and grew into one of the Northwest’s most beloved ski resorts.Lexicon
